Phil is an audiovisual consultant, lighting designer and theatre specialist bringing a broad spectrum of design skills ranging from theatrical and architectural lighting systems, through to fully integrated and coordinated sound, lighting, multimedia and show control systems.

Phil’s background includes several years working as a theatre sound technician at the Victorian Arts Centre and a tour of duty on a variety of national touring theatre musicals.

Phil possesses a demonstrated ability as a designer comfortable in dealing with a project from concepts through to realisation. He has strong technical skills, which, when coupled with his proven consulting ability and a thorough understanding of the construction process, enable him to function effectively as an innovative designer, fluent in both technical and artistic languages.

Phil has a degree in Music and an honours degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers and the Illumination Engineering Society.

Phil enjoys music and knows his way around a wine list. He is married with 3 daughters.

James joined the company in July 2004 after several years working in a previous office with Phil Viney.

James’ particular interest lies in specialist lighting design, making use of his strong technical ability and his evident design flair.

His talents also extend to IT and network systems and computer modelling for both lighting and audio systems. James proficiency with industry standard software such as AGI and EASE are well recognised in the company.

James has considerable expertise and experience with consulting, detail design and documentation of lighting, theatre and audiovisual systems.

James is a member of the Illumination Engineering Society and is blessed with two young daughters.
